On Nov 28, NordCham Philippines, in partnership with Trends and Concepts, SPACES Manila and IdeaSpace Foundation, Inc. organized Building Communities in the Workplace at Spaces Manila.
The event brought together HR professionals and industry-leading companies to discuss building a positive working environment as organizations are constantly innovating and finding new ways to promote a healthier working culture.

Lars Wittig, Country Manager of Regus and SPACES by IWG explained the innovative concept of Coworking with these flexible locations not only benefiting startups but also well-established organizations. The employees can retain the flexibility of working wherever they want, but also learn from, and establish strong networks with like-minded individuals. Coworking spaces also provide the opportunity for the people to be part of the community. They are able to interact and share ideas without any of the potential repercussion if you are working in a multinational organization. Joe Bantiling, President of Trends and Concepts shared a brief overview of past aesthetics and office design through his presentation “Evolution of the Workplace”. Where he showcased the transition of current office designs trends highlighting its importance and benefits for the company and for its employees. The importance of Design + Build goes beyond just “simply” designing the workplace. Its method, its meaning and its benefits directs one’s company’s success both externally and internally. Diane D. Eustaquio, Executive Director of IdeaSpace Foundation, Inc. talked about Innovation Mornings, sponsored by IdeaSpace with the objective of the event to enable a positive interaction between innovators, investors, academic institutions, start-up mentors, and funders, as well as stakeholders from the public and private sectors. These Innovation Morning provide networking opportunities across the conglomerate. Next to that, a speaker is introduced to discuss a thought-provoking topic to encourage diversity of thought among the participants. This initiative provides a platform to boost collaboration and partnership within the conglomerate. Christina “Teng” Cabrera, head of Nokia Technology Center Philippines Inc., gave some insight on the Nokia Saving Lives a corporate non-profit initiative that aims to provide communications technology and technical assistance to emergency response teams. Through her talk, “Supporting the Local Community through Collaboration”, Teng explained that the Nokia Saving Lives solution includes drones, a portable rescue application center, a private mobile broadband network, and applications such as a video streaming, mapping, and analytics. These solutions help emergency response teams to analyze the requirements, in order to provide assistance to communities in a fast and efficient way.
