April was a special month for H&M as it was when they launched their 2018 Sustainability Report, Conscious Exclusive and Conscious Spring (everyday pieces) collection.
A first in the Philippines, Conscious Spring and Conscious Exclusive collection – a special collection made of sustainable materials, was a regional launch that was held on April 3 at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. One of the three new materials H&M is introducing this year is called Pinatex – a fiber from pineapple leaves sourced in the Philippines.
Currently, 57% of all materials used by the H&M Group recycled or sustainably sourced, and by 2030, our aim is to use 100% recycled or other sustainably sourced materials.
Sustainability in fashion was discussed by panel speakers, Country Coordinator for Fashion Revolution in SG, Laura Francois and Pinatex/Ananas Anam founder Dr. Carmen Hijosa. Southeast Asian and local celebrities, industry trailblazers, influencers and members of the media attended the event which showcased a preview of the collection.
