Midsummer Eve is June 19 this year and that’s when the Swedes start celebrating the summer holidays. The Midsummer Eve is celebrated in large gatherings, where a maypole is raised and adults and kids alike engage in ring-dancing. People often begin the day by picking flowers and making wreaths to place on the maypole, which is a key component in the celebrations. On the menu is typically pickled herring and spices schnapps.
NordCham Philippines always celebrates the Midsummer Eve on Saturday to honor the tradition, which also will take place this year.
