On April 23, NordCham Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and its newly-established the Philippines-Sweden Business Council (PSBC). The key objective of the MoU is to strengthen economic and trade ties between the Republic of the Philippines and the Nordic countries, and to bring the respective business communities closer together.
With the re-opening of a Swedish Embassy in Manila in late 2016, as well as the re-establishment of local Business Sweden office in September 2017, there is tremendous potential for the rapid increase in bilateral trade between the two countries. The establishment of Philippines-Sweden Business Council will help integrate the local business community and complement the existing business support structures.
Present at the MoU singing and inauguration of the Philippines-Sweden Business Council were high-ranking guests such as Dr. Francis Chua, PCCI Chairman Emeritus; George Barcelon, PCCI Chairman; Alegria Limjoco, PCCI President; H.E. Harald Fries, Ambassador of Sweden to the Philippines; DTI Undersecretary Rowel Barba; Ambassador Delia Albert, former DFA Secretary; Leo Dominguez, PSBC Founding Chairman; Bo Lundqvist, NordCham Philippines President, and key members of the business community.
