“The Nordic Awards is our way of recognizing companies who live by the values that we stand for in the Nordic countries: innovation, sustainability, equality, education, and growth”, explains NordCham Philippines executive director Joona Selin. These values are reflected in the judging criteria for the five award categories, and we have also put a focus on sustainable development goals in each of the categories, Mr. Selin explains further.
The Corporate Sustainability Company of the Year category emphasizes environment, human rights and working conditions, and anti-corruption measures and business ethics. The Growth Company of the Year and SME of the Year categories both highlight employment generation and revenue growth. For Innovation Company of the Year, degree of innovation and sustainability, as well as international potential and likelihood of success are key criteria. And, for Outstanding Employer of the Year, gender equality, health and well-being, and equal development opportunities are key considerations.
“The themes of the Nordic Awards seem to resonate well in the Philippines, as we received a record number of 60 nominations for this year’s awards”, adds PwC Philippines Director Dakila Socrates B. Lavilla. PwC as the knowledge partner for Nordic Awards 2019 also oversees the process of the ranking the nominees and selection of the finalists, supporting the board of judges. The board of judges consists of Nordic-Philippine representatives from the public and private sector:
- Carol Dominguez, Board of Governors Secretary, Management Association of the Philippines
- H.E. Harald Fries, Ambassador of Sweden to the Philippines
- H.E. Bjorn Jahnsen, Ambassador of Norway to the Philippines
