Defense and security company, Saab, opened its new office in Manila to lead the development of further business in the Philippines. The office is the tenth dedicated country unit office in Saab’s Market Area Asia Pacific.
On November 9, 2016, Saab opened its representative office in Manila, which shall act as the headquarters of Saab’s Philippine unit, which will formally launch in January 2017. Mr. Carl-Erik Leek was appointed as Head of Saab Philippines.
Saab’s Manila office inauguration was attended by representatives of the Philippines government, armed forces and local industry along with senior figures in the Swedish community in the Philippines. The guest of honor was the Ambassador-designate of Sweden to the Philippines, H.E. Harald Fries.
“Saab already does about 25% of our annual business in Asia Pacific. That number has grown steadily over the years, will continue to grow and I expect that the Philippines will be part of this story. We have steadily increased our presence in the region by opening different country offices to be close to the customer. That is a key part of how we do business all over the world. Our new office in Manila is Saab’s tenth in Asia Pacific, and I don’t think it will be the last,” said Dan Enstedt, President and CEO of Saab Asia Pacific Co. Ltd.
Key business opportunities for Saab in the Philippines include the Gripen fighter, naval combat systems, maritime and air traffic management systems, and training systems and solutions. “My goal for this new office in Manila is to be the hub for a long-term relationship as a supplier of products and services to the Philippines Armed Forces and to the nation,” said Carl-Erik Leek, head of Saab Philippines.
