NBCP partnered up with the World Trade Center to promote casual meet up event with the new Secretary of Department of Transportation, Sec. Arthur Tugade. The event was held at World Trade Center on July 19.
Sec. Tugade discussed the government plans to ease the traffic situation in Metro Manila by enhancing the existing MRT capacity and speeds, adding more dedicated P2P bus routes, taking strong actions on illegal parking as well as constructing a gondola system.
Sec. Tugade also gave light to the department’s plans regarding the imminent need to decongest Ninoy Aquino International Airport. As a quick solution Tugade is moving general aviation to Sangley and Clark. Clark airport will also get a direct rail connection from Manila to make Clark airport more accessible. Connection point for the railway would either be in Trinoma or NAIA.
Tugade also reiterated the need for emergency powers to address the situation fast.
