The Microsoft Power BI data analysis expression functional language is designed to provide users the ability to manage, manipulate, and transform data sources into data visualization. Unlike menu-driven functions in Excel, the data analysis expression or DAX provides flexibility that would otherwise be very difficult on a menu-driven model. With over 200 plus DAX functions, the beginner user would be able to create data models that cater to the various scenarios that require visualization techniques. These business use cases may require the processing of data for purposes of aggregation, grouping, contextualization, trends, and forecast, and time intelligence functions, to name a few. Also, the host of DAX functions may pertain to data types such as text, dates, and numbers, including table manipulation functions, which can be embedded with Boolean functions.
The uniqueness of the data analysis expression is due to the fact that it is not a programming language but a functional language that produces either a scalar value or a tabular set of values, all with the intention of producing single or tabular data which lends itself to data visualization.
Participants for this webinar are expected to be conversant in Microsoft Excel built-in functions and will likewise be exposed to higher-level DAX functions to produce data formatted and suitable for data visualization.
Zoom access details will be sent 1 hour before the event.
