September Sustainability Committee Meeting Focuses on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
On 25 September 2024, NordCham Philippines held the Sustainability Committee Meeting at Rockwell Business Center Tower 3, Pasig, with a focus on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. The event brought together industry leaders, sustainability professionals, and corporate strategists to explore how businesses can adopt sustainable energy practices to create long-term value and contribute to environmental sustainability.
The meeting opened with a keynote presentation by Agnes C. de Jesus, Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer of First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH). She outlined First Gen Corporation’s sustainability framework, emphasizing its alignment with international Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). De Jesus underscored the role of corporate leadership in fostering responsible energy practices.
Ian Torres, Customer Progress Partner at Pi Energy Inc. and First Gen Corporation, followed with a discussion on the importance of energy audits. He explained how these audits can help businesses uncover opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize operational costs.
The event concluded with a presentation by Emmanuel "Manny" Portugal, Vice President and Head of Technology Solutions at Pi Energy Inc. and First Gen Corporation. Portugal discussed Renewable Energy Management Systems (REMS) and their potential to optimize energy usage within organizations. He highlighted how advanced energy management technologies support businesses in their transition to renewable energy sources and in achieving sustainable growth.
After the three presentations, the session was followed by an engaging Q&A where attendees asked insightful questions, further deepening the discussion on how to practically implement these energy strategies within their own organizations.
