NordCham Philippines Welcomes Axel Fries as New Executive Director
The Nordic Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (NordCham Philippines) is excited to introduce our new Executive Director, Axel Fries.
Axel brings to the role a strong background in venture capital, entrepreneurship, and stakeholder engagement, along with valuable international experience. He holds a degree in Mathematics from Davidson College in the United States, which laid the foundation for his analytical and strategic approach to business.
Axel has extensive experience in innovation and business growth, having founded and led a fintech startup for five years. In the Philippines, he joined the Investor Relations team at Foxmont Capital Partners—a founder-focused venture capital fund supporting local entrepreneurs. He also served as a Product Manager at Forest Systems in the United States, where he led cross-functional teams to deliver strategic digital solutions.
With both Swedish and Filipino roots, and a career spanning the United States and the Philippines, Axel offers a unique cross-cultural perspective that aligns closely with NordCham’s mission to support collaboration between Nordic and Philippine businesses.
About his background and commitment to the Chamber, Axel shares:

In discussing his vision for the Chamber, Axel added:

I bring a fresh perspective and a willingness to introduce original ideas that can benefit both our team and the broader business community. Additionally, my experience working with startups has equipped me with a fast-paced, agile mindset and a readiness to embrace innovation and explore new approaches.”
As Executive Director, Axel will be responsible for strengthening the Chamber’s role as a key platform for Nordic-Philippine business relations, enhancing partner engagement, and expanding strategic initiatives that support sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
