ABB names Poweredge Solutions as first authorized value provider in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines - ABB recently named Poweredge Solutions Philippines, Inc. (Poweredge) as the first Value Provider for its Motion Business in the country to accelerate growth and broaden access to its market-leading portfolio. Poweredge is a power solutions company which provides a comprehensive range of end-to-end solutions for mission critical and data-intensive applications and processes.
“ABB’s Value Provider Program is a dedicated premium program for our channel partners, which include distributors, technical distributors, service providers and system integrators. ABB’s channel partner network consists of several levels of partnership with matching requirements,” said Apryl Herrera, Channel Business Manager for ABB Philippines’ Motion Business.
“At the top are the ABB Value Providers which are authorized to the highest level to deliver sales, support, service and engineering solutions in seamless cooperation with ABB. They are fully trained and knowledgeable about the specific ABB products they are authorized for and the associated processes,” she added.
In preparation for this important process, Poweredge’s technical engineers received training for almost two months on the complete range of ABB drives to ensure that they are fully prepared and certified. The company was also subject to stringent documentation review and audit before being accorded the privilege of using the ABB Value Provider label, an acknowledgement of its capabilities and track record.
A New Milestone for Poweredge
Poweredge is a leading power solutions provider in the country. They are authorized to sell and service ABB drives as well as other products under the Electrification business. The company serves a wide range of sectors including banking, manufacturing, medical, food and beverage, water and data centers, amongst others.
“The ABB Value Provider is a reward for the past 20 years, for our investment not just in our facility, but most importantly in our people. This stamp of approval gives our customers the assurance that we will provide them with services that are best-in-class, consistent with ABB’s standards globally,” said Joris Spanhoff, Managing Director of Poweredge.
Lucien Magpantay, President and General Manager of Poweredge, said that the honor is a milestone for the company, which will soon be opening its Center of Excellence in Cainta, Rizal.
“We take pride in building this facility and hope to have it fully operational by March,” he shared.
The Poweredge Center of Excellence is the first of its kind in the Philippines as it has a demo room where testing can be done with customers watching behind a glass partition and seeing the results on digitally connected screens; a Motion workshop for the repair and troubleshooting of drives; and an area for burn-in test and equipment assembly where products are tested for 24 to 48 hours to ensure their quality before delivery.
The 2,500-sqm facility also houses a battery charging area equipped with a fire suppression system; battery storage room; spare parts warehouse; equipment warehouse; offices; data center; and a two-story staff house. It has a one-megawatt gen set and is installed with fire sprinklers and CCTV for security and safety.
“The facility’s design and features were inspired by factories we’ve visited in the past 20 years, especially with ABB. Our state-of-the-art equipment and commitment to high standards allow us to conduct local acceptance testing so that customers can choose to bring their equipment to our facility instead of going to the factory,” Magpantay shared.

“Our customers don’t necessarily have in-house engineering resource and internal technical support. That’s why it is so important for them to be able to talk to experts who understand their problems or can apply learnings from other industries to unlock value,” Herrera commented.

Service, according to Spanhoff, is a big component of their business.
“Our business was not severely impacted during the pandemic because of the service side. We supported customers offering essential services such as banks and hospitals to ensure that they were able to operate without disruptions,” he said.
