Empowering Women in Maritime: May JMC Discusses Challenges and Strategies for Growth

On 29 May 2025, the Joint Maritime Committee (JMC) held its May meeting in celebration of the IMO International Day for Women in Maritime, at the German Club Manila.

This month's session highlighted the vital role of women working in the maritime sector and explored the challenges and strategies to boost their participation across all levels of the industry. The discussion was led by Ms. Cherry Gonzales-Du, Marine Relations Manager at Maersk-Filipinas Crewing Inc., who shared valuable perspectives on promoting diversity, breaking industry stereotypes, and implementing policies that foster inclusive workplaces and career development opportunities for women in maritime professions.
