NordCham Pays Courtesy Visit to the Department of National Defense

On May 21, 2026, NordCham paid a courtesy visit to the Department of National Defense (DND) to formally introduce the organization and present the upcoming Nordic Philippine Strategic Defense Alliance Summit 2027.

Executive Director Axel Fries was welcomed by Augusto V. Gaite, Assistant Secretary for Defense Technology, Research, and Industry Development, and Rene Raoul Rommel DC Honasan, Assistant Secretary for the Office for Logistics and Acquisition of the Department of National Defense.

Axel was joined by the Defense Expo PHL team to present their upcoming event and formally invite the DND to participate as Guests of Honor. Discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration, including opportunities for the Philippines to learn from Nordic expertise and best practices in strengthening the defense sector.
